Gift Aid

Donations and sponsorship payments are eligible for Gift Aid providing donors are paying at least the amount of UK income tax reclaimed on their donations.  In the 2010/2011 tax year this makes a £100 donation worth £125 to the Anglo-Thai Foundation, and the Government contributes another £3. Our understanding is that, if you pay tax at the 40% or new 50% rate, you will be able personally to reclaim a further £41.66 or £75 through your tax return.

Give something back to Land of Smiles

Have you enjoyed hollidays in Thailand? In 2008 over 800,000 British tourists did.

The Land of Smiles is a great destination and still remarkable value for money, but one of the reasons goods and services are cheap is because wages are low and there is little welfare support for the population. In principle, Thailand provides free schooling, but the poorest children don’t benefit from it because they can’t afford the extra costs they do have to pay: for school books, pencils and paper, school uniforms, bus fares, and after-school activities.

For the past 20 years the Anglo-Thai Foundation has been helping the most impoverished schoolchildren in Northeast Thailand (Isaan) to break out of the vicious circle of poverty and enjoy the schooling they are entitled to.

The Thai Government recognises the problem and has provided modest grants out of the state budget from 2010 but unfortunately considerably more is needed.

At an individual level you can make a real difference by sponsoring a child in Isaan and giving them the prospect of a brighter future. Please do print out a Standing Order Mandate or click the “Donate” button, and put a big smile on a child’s face today.
