Gift Aid

Donations and sponsorship payments are eligible for Gift Aid providing donors are paying at least the amount of UK income tax reclaimed on their donations.  In the 2010/2011 tax year this makes a £100 donation worth £125 to the Anglo-Thai Foundation, and the Government contributes another £3. Our understanding is that, if you pay tax at the 40% or new 50% rate, you will be able personally to reclaim a further £41.66 or £75 through your tax return.

What should be the ATF’s top priority?

 Kriangsak (Max)

Whilst on our travels we came across Max, a seven-year-old boy playing draughts at a school in Buriram.

His teacher told us that he excels in mathematics and is an extremely bright child but is from a poor family.

Both his parents are rice farmers and have to travel to work in Bangkok as casual labourers out of the rice-growing season.

Max lives with his grandmother and older brother in a simple wooden house. He was barefoot so we gave him some money for a pair of shoes.  We have already found him a sponsor, which will ensure he has a uniform, books, materials and, hopefully, a pair of shoes!
