Thai Crafts

As well as Sponsorship, one of the ways in which the Anglo-Thai Foundation raises money to help our children is by selling genuine high quality Thai goods. Each time we go to Thailand we endeavour to seek out goods to sell, which are typically Thai, of good quality workmanship and not too heavy to transport back to the UK, where we sell them on our stall at Thai functions in various parts of the country. All the proceeds from the sale of our goods goes into our general fund to help children who are not fortunate to have their own personal sponsor.

Handbags

The latest chic fashion accessory in Bangkok are these handbags, rapidly catching on in the UK. Each one we sell promotes a spate of inquiries of the "where did you get that cool handbag from?" nature.

The answer is you get them here, from the ATF: nobody else sells them in the UK!

They are uniquely decorated with real dried flowers, and come in two sizes, tall (11" exc handles) or long (12")

You can have them transparent (find your car keys easily) or lined (hide all your clutter) in natural or black.

Be the first in your circle to own one of these amazing bags.

One Tambon - One Product

OTOP or One Tambon - One Product is a scheme recognised by the Thai Government, whereby profit sharing tambon (village) co-operatives, producing a single range of Thai craft work, are entitled to use the much coveted OTOP logo in their promotional material. The co-operatives that earn the right to use this logo are constantly monitored for quality, so you can be assured that any goods bought from an OTOP factory are of high quality and that the income of the factory is genuinely put back into the local economy.

Travelling in Phayu District (not far from PM Laow's village where the ATF started) on our last trip, we came across this co-operative which make a range of beautiful wooden ornaments. The raw material used is mango wood, a renewable source, and the craftsmanship is exquisite. While we were there, the workers were in the midst of completing orders for the only two other places in Europe where you can buy these goods, Harrods of London and the Galleries Lafayette in Paris. Our order has just arrived in the UK, and will be on display at the July Festival in Merton, or you can buy them off this page - see the bottom of the page for ordering details.

Because we bought these articles from an OTOP outlet in a district in which we operate, the benefit to the local people is twofold. Firstly, the price pay for them goes straight to the local villagers who work in the factory. Secondly the profit we make on sales goes into our funds, helping people and families in the same villages. It is not unlikely that some of the factory workers have children who receive ATF grants.
