Mex (Kriangsak)

Whilst on our travels we came across Max, a seven-year-old boy playing draughts at a school in Buriram.
His teacher told us that he excels in mathematics and is an extremely bright child but is from a poor family. Both his parents are rice farmers and have to travel to work in Bangkok as casual labourers out of the rice-growing season.

Max lives with his grandmother and older brother in a simple wooden house. He was barefoot so we gave him some money for a pair of shoes.  We have already found him a sponsor, which will ensure he has a uniform, books, materials and, hopefully, a pair of shoes!
